Position:                 Driver Guide
Reports to:             On Duty Manager
Salary:                    Hourly wage $12.00 to $14.00

Position Summary:
This is a seasonal position from May to September for CDL driver. Passengers will require transportation for specific tours by a licensed CDL Driver Guide. The Driver Guide will coordinate with dock representative, pier side sales, and office personnel to ensure appropriate passenger count and schedule. This is a fast pace environment that requires both attention to detail and flexibility to adapt to changes in the daily schedule. Also, safety is of the highest importance and should be the primary focus for all driver guides. (Dolphin Tours will provide CDL training)

Daily Duties:

  • To work in coordination with base representative and dock rep for appropriate transportation of tours
  • Attain appropriate passenger pick up information for accuracy
  • Maintain accurate passenger count for boat capacity and correct pickup
  • Meet and greet passengers in a positive and professional manner
  • Coordinate transportation duties for safety and best possible tour effect
  • Ensure correct pick up information for all passengers to avoid confusion
  • Conduct an entertaining tour while transporting passengers to destination
  • Maintain a clean and neat bus appearance during down time or in between scheduled tours
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, minimum age 21
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the Unites States
  • Ability to pass the CDL requirement for the State of Alaska DOT
  • Excellent customer service focus
  • Ability to follow direction and adapt well to a changing environment
  • Comfortable in large groups and in transportation environment
  • Calm under stressful conditions and ability to make quick decisions
  • Good work ethic and the ability to work in a team environment

Working Environment:
This position is required to work primarily on a bus with passengers as a driver guide. In addition, this position requires the driver guide to assist dock reps and dispatchers outside in the weather conditions as needed. Meeting and greeting passengers to deliver tour information while on route to appropriate tour destination. First and most important is always abide by the highest safety standards.
