Dolphin Tours is locally owned and operated in Juneau, Alaska. The company was started in 1994 by Doug Ward and his wife Lisa Ward. They started that first year with two six passenger boats providing sight seeing tours. They experienced such success in the area with whale sightings they decided to become a whale watching company.
Many visitors ask about the name of the company. The name was chosen because of the similarity of dolphins and jet boats. Dolphins are considered very quick, nimble, and maneuverable. These characteristics are shared by the jet boats used in operation.
Dolphin Tours has continued to grow, to the point of being offered on some of the cruise lines that visit Juneau. At the same time, we have maintained our small roots beginning and continue to be a family run business in pursuit of ethical practices, financial success, and fun for everyone.
